Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about tour length, transportation, wildlife, partner excursions and payment.

How long can a tour be?

Private driving tours may be as short as one hour or as long as a full eight-hour day. The best length depends on the locations you choose and your pickup and return schedule.

How long is whale watching?

The complete whale-watching experience generally fits within about four hours, depending on the partner operator schedule and transportation timing.

Who charges me for whale watching?

Aarons Adventures charges you for transportation only. The whale-watching company charges you separately for the boat excursion, taxes, fees and optional services.

Who charges me for fishing?

Aarons Adventures charges you for transportation only. The fishing charter company charges separately for the charter and any licenses, processing, taxes or fees.

Can I choose the wildlife?

Yes. Tell us whether your priorities are bears, eagles, salmon or harbor seals, and we will build the route around the best available conditions.

Why do tides matter?

Some shoreline wildlife and feeding areas are easier to view at low tide. The best departure time may depend on what you hope to see.

How many guests can you transport?

Using taxis, SUVs, vans, shuttles and coordinated caravans, we can generally accommodate parties of up to approximately 60 guests, subject to fleet availability.

Are sightings guaranteed?

No. Wildlife is wild, and sightings, numbers and behaviors cannot be guaranteed.

Where can you pick us up?

Pickup can be arranged from cruise terminals, hotels, vacation rentals or another agreed Juneau location.

What should we bring?

Comfortable shoes, waterproof layers, a camera or phone, water and any personal medication. Binoculars are also useful.
